Application of Basket Strainers in the Petroleum Industry

The primary function of a basket strainer is to provide an effective filtration solution for separating and capturing solid particles and impurities from liquids or gases flowing through pipeline systems. In the petroleum industry, these impurities may include sand, sludge, fiber, and other contaminants that can damage downstream precision equipment, control systems, or process operations. By filtering out such impurities, basket strainers help protect equipment from wear, clogging, or damage, ensuring that the entire system operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Typical Applications

Basket strainers are widely applied in the petroleum industry, including but not limited to:

Crude Oil Extraction and Transportation
During crude oil production, raw oil extracted from wells often contains large amounts of solid impurities, such as sand and rock fragments. Basket strainers are installed at the initial stage of crude oil pipelines to remove these impurities, preventing pipeline erosion and equipment clogging.

Refineries
